Media center : Glossary

  • dispatching

operational nerve center where specialist operators monitor network status round the clock and direct the disposition of generating capacity based on changing demand.

  • distribution

transmission of electricity over medium and low-voltage networks to distribution companies or end-users.

  • downsizing

reducing an engine’s cylinder capacity (i.e. the engine size) without reducing its power. The increase in performance may require fuel injection or a turbocharger. Injection is a more exacting way to control the supply of fuel to the combustion chamber, thus improving efficiency. Turbos regulate the increase in power during acceleration.
