France: solar energy boom should persist despite crisis

"The Frenchmarket for photovoltaic solar energy should continue to grow rapidly at least until late 2010 despite the economic recession", predicts PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in a study published in May. New solar panel installations represented about 105 MW in 2008, compared with 30 MW in 2007 and 7MW in 2005. At the end of last year, French photovoltaic panels were producing 175 MW, far behind Germany’s 5,300 MW and Spain’s 3,300 MW.
