Launched in 1974, the Eurobarometer's goal is to analyze changes in European public opinion. The findings are used to help improve EU information and communication strategies. Originally designed to measure popular support for a unified Europe, the Eurobarometer has since broadened the scope of its surveys to include more targeted topics, regularly analyzing European attitudes on topics like energy, research, politics, science, business, and societal trends. Its findings help the Brussels Commission and the leaders of the 27 EU member states make enlightened decisions.
