Question:
I would like to know the start and end dates for the construction of the ITER experimental fusion reactor.
Answer:
It should first be noted that the goal of the planned ITER international research center is to demonstrate the scientific and technological feasibility of producing energy through atomic fusion. Two sites are competing for this facility. The Cadarache site in southern France is the candidate of Europe, Russia and China. The Rokkasho Mura site in Japan has the support of Japan, the US and South Korea. When this issue went to press, no decision had been taken and discussions are ongoing, mainly between Japan and the European Union.
