Quite a few research projects on CO₂ capture and storage (CCS) have entered an active phase. One of these is CASTOR (CO₂ from Capture to Storage), a European project that covers the entire CO₂ capture-transport-storage chain and, by extension, looks into hydrogen storage. Another is CO₂GeoNet, a Network of Excellence on Geological Storage of CO₂ that brings together the main European geological institutes (www.co2geonet.com).
